Just some of the promises we received in prayer over the years as we asked the Lord to provide us with a place we can call home!
We’re delighted to announce we finally have a place to call our home which includes all the specifics we prayed for over 12 years:
- Central location facilitating every church in the borough to get involved in giving
- Secure premises with a peppercorn rent
- Room to gather for fellowship, worship, prayer and working together
- Event space to share the Besom vision and opportunities to give
- Storage with wide and easy ground-floor access for moving furniture in and out
- Outdoor space and free car parking
We are blown away by God matching every single detail we asked Him for on our ‘prayer list’. Not one thing was missing – even down to the primary focus of being somewhere for our team to gather with time and skills-givers for fellowship, with space for both ‘admin’ and worship as He has lovingly provided us two buildings – a Chapel and a Store.
All these elements provide the freedom to flourish and grow and make it easier for all to give as God calls. But God also showed us that this home will be where the vision is caught, new Besoms are birthed and the baton passed to the next generation. Praise God!
Preparing to move in…
Leased for five years from Elmbridge Borough Council, our two single-storey units have been unoccupied for at least 10 years so need refurbishment to make them safely habitable. Currently, they have limited electrical and water supplies, no toilet or kitchenette, and need to be watertight and redecorated. We are so excited to have a potentially beautiful space in which to worship and pray, as well as room for the team and time-givers to carry out administration, run projects and make van runs. There is ample space for us to temporarily store items awaiting delivery to recipients’ homes. What a wonderful provision this is! As part of The Besom Network in the UK, we can share this space with others wanting to find out more about the Besom Vision and how to plant a Besom in their community.
During our twelve years of praying for premises, we have learned a great deal about persistence, patience and the importance of adaptability while God provided what was needed for Besom to function through the generosity of local churches and individuals. We are very grateful for a wide variety of rooms and spaces provided to us over the years for our prayer meetings, for team admin/ops, for storage spaces, and safe parking of our van including Esher Green Baptist Church, Holy Trinity Claygate and King’s Church Chessington where the van team also enjoyed Thursday morning briefing, coffee and fellowship.
Churches and individuals have been extremely generous with financial gifts enabling our work. After one memorable prayer meeting this year, we had concluded our old van was no longer viable to keep on the road and prayed for the finances to buy a new van. Within hours we received them! The new van is a joy for the team to work with. Now we earnestly seek God to faithfully provide us with all that is needed to renovate and move in!

This quote helps us remember that obedience in doing God’s work in His way releases His perfect provision.
God is moving us into a new phase of our Besom journey in Elmbridge and we believe He’s extending His Kingdom as more Christians are enabled to go out to their communities to lovingly serve those in need.
A lot is needed to prepare the premises for effective service. Turning these buildings into our new home creates opportunities to give your time, money, skills and things.
